Contraindications

Eligibility requirements for permanent makeup at MBellish Studio by Maria. Your safety and satisfaction are our top priorities. To ensure the best possible outcome for your permanent makeup procedure, please review the following contraindications. We are unable to perform permanent makeup procedures on individuals with the following conditions, though some exceptions may apply with medical clearance or specific waiting periods. If you have any questions, please contact us, we’re here to help!

General Eligibility

  • Must be 18 years of age or older (per Washington state law).
  • Not pregnant or nursing.

Skin Conditions

  • Skin irritations near the procedure area, including blemishes, rashes, acne, eczema, psoriasis, keratosis pilaris, dermatitis, rosacea, or sunburn.
  • Deep wrinkles or scars in the treatment area.
  • Extremely thin or sensitive skin.

Medical Conditions

  • Prone to keloid scarring, infections, or slow healing (e.g., from minor cuts).
  • Diagnosed with diabetes, epilepsy, autoimmune or thyroid disease, glaucoma, Graves’ disease, hemophilia, or skin cancer.
  • Diagnosed with HIV, Hepatitis, or other viral infections/diseases.
  • History of cold sores (consult your doctor for antiviral medication to use before and after treatment for lip procedures).
  • History of seizures or shingles (medical clearance required).
  • Currently sick (e.g., cold, flu, pink eye, or coughing).
  • Have a pacemaker, major heart issues, mitral valve disorder, or a history of organ transplant or joint replacement.

Medications and Treatments

  • Currently on antibiotics, blood-thinning medication, or immunosuppressive therapy.
  • Undergoing or recently completed chemotherapy or immunosuppressive treatment (must be off treatment for at least 6 months; consult your doctor).
  • Currently taking Accutane (wait 1 year after discontinuation).
  • Using Retin-A (wait 3 months after discontinuation).
  • Using eyelash growth serum (wait 6 months after discontinuation for eyeliner procedures).

Recent Procedures

  • Received Botox (wait 2 weeks).
  • Received fillers (wait 4 weeks).
  • Underwent laser treatment (wait 8 weeks).
  • Had eyebrow tinting, waxing, or threading (wait 10–14 days).
  • Underwent LASIK or cataract surgery (wait 3 months for eyeliner procedures).

Photography & Portfolio Consent

At MBellish Studio by Maria, before and after photographs are taken for all procedures as a standard part of your client record and portfolio documentation. These images are kept confidentially and are used solely for internal records and service assessment purposes.

For use of your images in social media, marketing, or promotional materials, your  consent is required. A photo release option is included in your intake and consent forms, which you’ll receive prior to your appointment. You are never obligated to consent, and your service experience will not be affected in any way by your choice. Consent given may be withdrawn at any time by contacting us in writing at service@mbellishstudiobymaria.com.

Website Content & Intellectual Property

All content on mbellishstudiobymaria.com, including text, images, logos, and graphics, is the property of MBellish Studio by Maria and is protected by applicable copyright laws. No content may be reproduced, distributed, or used without prior written permission.

Deposits & Payments Policy 

A non-refundable $100 deposit is required to reserve your appointment and will be applied toward your total balance, which is due on the day of service. We kindly ask that you confirm your availability before booking.

All payments made toward services, including deposits, prepayments, and full service payments, are non-refundable. Due to the time reserved, preparation involved, and the customized nature of each service, all completed services are final sale.

We accept all major credit cards and debit cards. Cash is not accepted. Applicable WA sales tax will be included in all card transactions for a streamlined booking experience.

Cancellations & Rescheduling Policy

We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, so please confirm your availability before booking. All payments, including the $100 deposit, are non-refundable.

If you need to reschedule your appointment, please provide at least 72 hours’ notice. With proper notice, your $100 deposit may be transferred one time to a new appointment date.

Cancellations or rescheduling requests made with less than 72 hours’ notice will result in forfeiture of the $100 deposit, and a new deposit will be required to reschedule.

Same-day cancellations and no-shows will be charged 100% of the service cost.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in helping us maintain a smooth schedule and provide the best possible experience for every client.

Important Booking Information

At MBellish Studio by Maria, we reserve the right to decline service at our discretion. If you have previous permanent makeup or existing tattoos in the area, a consultation is required prior to booking so we can properly assess your service eligibility. Thank you for your understanding and for allowing us to provide the highest level of care and artistry.

Consultations

For every new client, your luminous journey begins with a complimentary 30 minute consultation. This cherished step is vital for new clients and those with prior permanent makeup, allowing the artist to assess cover-up or correction eligibility with exquisite precision and warmth. For special circumstances, such as large scars or medical conditions, if unsure, email a photo of the area to service@mbellishstudiobymaria.com for our guidance. Upon booking, detailed preparation instructions, intake and consent forms will be sent to your provided email; please complete those forms online prior to your first appointment.

Appointments & Timeliness

Please arrive on time for your appointment to ensure a smooth and relaxed experience. Arriving a few minutes early is always appreciated. If you are running late, please notify us as soon as possible.

Clients arriving more than 15 minutes late may need to be rescheduled based on the day’s schedule. If rescheduling is necessary due to late arrival, the original deposit will be forfeited and a new $100 deposit will be required to book a new appointment.

For the comfort of all clients and to preserve the studio environment, we kindly ask that no pets or extra guests accompany you, except service animals if applicable.

Color Refresh

Color Refresh appointments are reserved for our cherished current clients, a celebration of your ongoing elegance. Not yet with us, or have prior work? Your radiant journey begins with a complimentary 30-45 minute consultation, followed by an initial appointment, as you’ll be welcomed as a new client. Additional fees may apply for corrective enhancements, tailored to your unique needs.

Lip Blush Pre-care Instructions

To ensure the best results and minimize sensitivity, follow these steps before your appointment:

Cold Sores

  • If you’ve had cold sores, contact your doctor for antiviral medication to use before and after the procedure to prevent outbreaks.


Skin Health

  • Ensure lips are not chapped, peeling, or cracked.


Medications and Products:

  • Stop Accutane 1 year before.
  • Avoid retinol, Vitamin A, or AHA products for 30 days before.
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications (unless medically necessary) for 72 hours before, consult your doctor.


Treatments:

  • Wait 4-6 weeks after lip fillers.
  • No facials, microdermabrasion, microneedling, peels, or laser treatments for 4 weeks before.


Lifestyle:

  • Avoid sun exposure or tanning beds for 2 weeks before.
  • Avoid alcohol 24 hours before.


Other:

  • Stay hydrated and get plenty of rest.
  • Note increased sensitivity during your menstrual cycle.

Eyebrow Pre-care Instructions

To ensure the best results and minimize sensitivity, follow these steps before your appointment:

Skin Health

  • Ensure your skin is free of irritations, acne, eczema, psoriasis, or sunburn.


Medications and Products:

  • Stop Accutane 1 year before.
  • Avoid retinol, Vitamin A, or AHA products for 30 days before.
  • Avoid blood-thinning medications (unless medically necessary) for 72 hours before, consult your doctor.


Treatments:

  • No facials, microdermabrasion, microneedling, peels, or laser treatments for 4 weeks before.
  • No Botox for 2 weeks before.
  • No fillers, wait 4-6 weeks before.
  • No tweezing, waxing, threading, or electrolysis for 1 week before.


Lifestyle:

  • Avoid sun exposure or tanning beds for 2 weeks before.
  • Avoid alcohol 24 hours before.
  • Avoid heavy exercise on the procedure day.


Other:

  • Scars must be healed for 1 year.
  • Note increased sensitivity during your menstrual cycle.
